Kandipappu Pachadi (toor dal chutney)
Many of us like taking chutneys with rice.Usually vegetarians in Andhra are very much familiar with this chutney. For such lovers here is the recipe of Kandipappu pachadi (toor dal chutney).
Ingredients:
1 cup toor dal (kandipappu)
5 or 6 red chillies.
1 tsp jeera (jeelakarra, cumin)
2 or 3 garlic cloves
salt to taste

- In a dry skillet roast the toor dal till brown on a medium flame.
- Take precaution that the dal does not turn black.
- Transfer the roasted dal to a plate and allow it to cool for some time.
- In the meanwhile fry the red chillies in the same skillet without oil and keep them aside till the dal cools.
Procedure:
Blend the dal, chillies, jeera, garlic cloves and salt together in a blender to, a smooth paste using water.
Do not add too much of water.
The chutney should be slightly thick.
It tastes very well with rice adding either little ghee or oil.
It can be accompanied with a papad and some rasam.
