Pesarakattu-(Moong dal)
We prepare a variety of dals with a combination of some vegetable like tomato dal, ridge gourd dal etc. But, sometimes, there will be situations, where we will be very much longing to have dal, but don’t find any vegetables at home. This recipe which i am presenting you now, helps you in such situations.
Here is the recipe for Pesara kattu ( moong dal )
Ingredients:1 cup moong dal ( pesara pappu )
For Seasoning:
1 green chilli
2 red chillies
1 tsp mustard seds
1 tsp jeera(cumin,jeelakarra)
1/2 lemon
pinch of asafetida
few curry leaves

Preparation: Boil the moong dal and keep aside.
Pocedure:
- In a pan, do the seasoning in with the above ingredients.
- Stir in the boiled moong dal and add salt as required and stir well.
- Boil it for few minutes till the water evaporates and the dal appears thick in consistency.
- Then put off the stove and add lime juice just before serving.
- This dal tastes equally good as what we prepare with vegetables.

For today our lunch is rice with pesara kattu, pesara pappu pulusu(moong dal rasam) and a papad.Even a combination of some fry curry like alu fry along with dal will also be excellent.
