Bottle gourd chutney (Anapakaya pachadi)

Recipe for Anapakaya pachadi (Bottle gourd chutney):

Ingredients:
Bottle gourd- 1 (small)
Tomato- 1
Green chillies- 1 or 2
Tamarind- small lemon size
Garlic- 1 flake
Cumin- 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Procedure:

  • Peel the outer skin of bottle gourd and chop it finely to small pieces.
  • Chop the tomato also to small pieces.
  • Chop the green chillies finely.
  • Heat a skillet and add a spoon of oil.
  • Add the green chillies, chopped bottle gourd pieces and fry for few minutes, till they leave the raw smell.
  • Add the chopped tomato and tamarind and fry for few minutes, till they turn soft and come together.
  • Transfer the ingredients to a plate and allow them to cool.
  • Grind this stuff along with the cumin and garlic.
  • Adjust the salt according to your taste.

Serve it with some steamed rice and a papad.
