Alu in Besan gravy (Cubed Potatoes in Gram flour gravy)

Ingredients:
Potatoes- 4 (medium sized)
Besan (gram flour) - 2 tbsps
Onion- 1 (big)
Pinch of turmeric
Salt to taste
For Seasoning:
Mustard- 1 tsp
Cumin- 1 tsp
Urad dal- 1 tsp
Chana dal- 1 tsp
Curry leaves- 10
Green chillies- 2
Procedure:
- Wash, peel and cut the potatoes into cubes.
- Chop the onion lengthwise.
- Chop the green chillies to small pieces.
- Heat a low bottomed pan and add a spoon of oil.
- Do the seasoning in the above listed order.
- Add the chopped onions and saute until they leave the raw smell.
- Add a pinch of turmeric and again saute for a minute.
- Add the cubed potatoes and saute for two minutes.
- Adjust the salt according to your taste and mix well.
- Add two cups of water to the pan and cover with a lid.
- Simmer the flame and cook until the potatoes are well boiled.
- Mix the gram flour in one-fourth cup of water, without any lumps and add it to the ingredients in the pan.
- While adding the gram flour mix to the curry, stir continuously to avoid the formation of lumps.
- Put off the stove, once the gravy thickens.
- Serve it hot with puris, rotis, parathas or naan.

Note: This Alu curry doesn’t taste that good with rice.
